In order to extend the service life of metal wire mesh or change the surface color of metal screens,we usually treat the metal surface to achieve the goal of acid resistance, alkali resistance, and oxidation resistance. The methods of surface treatment include electro galvanizing,hot-dip galvanizing, powder coating,PVC coating, anodizing, polishing, etc.
1.Hot Dipped Galvanizing(Up to 10 years of lifespan)
Hot dip galvanizing is an effective method of metal corrosion prevention, mainly used for metal structural facilities. It is to immerse the derusted steel parts in molten zinc at around 500 ℃,so that a zinc layer is attached to the surface of the steel components, thereby achieving the purpose of corrosion prevention.
Usually, the thickness of the galvanized layer is 5-15 μ m. And the hot-dip galvanized layer is generally at 35 μ Above m,even up to 200 μ m.Hot dip galvanizing has good coverage ability, dense coating, and no organic inclusions. As is well known, the mechanism of zinc's resistance to atmospheric corrosion includes mechanical protection and electrochemical protection. Under atmospheric corrosion conditions, the surface of the zinc layer has ZnO,Zn (OH) 2,and basic zinc carbonate protective films, which to some extent slow down the corrosion of zinc.If this protective film (also known as white rust) is damaged,it will form a new film layer.
When the zinc layer is severely damaged and endangers the iron substrate, zinc provides electrochemical protection to the substrate. The standard potential of zinc is -0.76V,and the standard potential of iron is -0.44V.When zinc and iron form a micro battery, zinc is dissolved as the anode, and iron is protected as the cathode.Obviously,hot-dip galvanizing has better atmospheric corrosion resistance to the base metal iron than electrogalvanizing.
2.Electrostatic Powder Coating(Up to 5 years of lifespan)
Electrostatic powder coating is a spraying method that utilizes a high-voltage electrostatic field to cause negatively charged powder particles to move in the opposite direction of the electric field and adsorb powder coating particles on the surface of the workpiece. Its characteristics are as following
1) A thick coating can be obtained with one application, and the corrosion resistance of the coating is very good.
2) Powder coatings are solvent free and environmentally friendly.
3) The powder electrostatic spraying process is highly efficient and often uses automatic assembly lines for coating.
4) Various colors are available for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
